Common questions
Everything you need to know, in plain English.
What exactly am I buying?
You're claiming a unique digital certificate of ownership for a specific number. Think of it like a vanity license plate for the internet — but permanent. Your ownership is recorded in a public, tamper-proof record that no one can alter or take away.
Do I need a crypto wallet or any technical knowledge?
Not at all. You pay with a regular credit card, just like buying anything online. We handle all the technical details. You'll get a confirmation email, and that's it — your number is yours.
How is this different from just buying a domain name?
Domain names can expire, be taken away, or be transferred without your consent. Your number certificate is different — it's recorded in a permanent public ledger that no company, government, or person can alter. It genuinely cannot be taken from you.
What can I do with my number?
You own it. You can keep it, display it, sell it to someone else, or give it away. If the number becomes valuable to someone else, you can sell it on our marketplace. Some people collect numbers the way others collect art.
Can I give a number as a gift?
Yes! Just click 'Give as a Gift' on any number's page, enter the recipient's name and email, and pay by credit card. They'll receive an email with their ownership certificate.
Why can't I buy certain numbers like 42, 7, or π?
Some numbers are so historically or culturally significant that we've preserved them as part of the registry's permanent heritage — like landmarks that belong to everyone. You can still visit their pages and learn about them, but they can't be claimed by any individual.
What determines the price?
Price depends on the number's tier. Numbers 1–100 are Platinum ($1,000). Numbers 101–9,999 are Gold ($500). Valid US phone numbers are $25. Numbers with 5–9 digits are $10. Everything else is $5.
Can I update the name or description on my number?
Yes — you own it, so you control what it says. If you purchased with a credit card, you can email us at hello@numberregistry.co and we'll update it for you at no charge. If you're crypto-savvy and have a wallet, you can update it yourself directly on the blockchain at any time without involving us at all.
Is this a scam?
We understand the skepticism — and it's healthy! The ownership record is stored on a public blockchain, which means anyone in the world can independently verify that you own your number. It doesn't depend on our website staying online or our company existing. The record is permanent.
What happens to my number if this website shuts down?
Your ownership record exists independently on the Ethereum blockchain, not on our servers. Even if this website disappeared tomorrow, your ownership would still be there, verifiable by anyone, forever.
Can I get a refund?
Because ownership is recorded permanently the moment you complete the purchase, we're unable to offer refunds. Please double-check the number before paying.
